Coach Jeff

Jeff Nerenberg founded a private tennis academy (JNTA) in 1975, which has included more than 16,000 students since its inception.  The Academy participates in all USTA testing programs.  In 1991, the USTA selected the Jeff Nerenberg Tennis Academy as an Officially Sanctioned National Player Development Program.  Prince Sports Group named the JNTA as one of the Top 25 Tennis Academies in the United States.

 

Coach Jeff is the Boys Varsity Tennis Coach at Keio Academy of New York.  Keio is a Japanese Boarding School located in Purchase, New York, that is a member of NYSAIS (New York State Association of Independent Schools).  He was recently named Head Mens and Womens Tennis Coach at Lehman College.

Prior to his appointment at Keio Academy, from 2007 - 2013, Coach Jeff was the Head Tennis coach (Boy's and Girl's) at Riverdale Country School, Riverdale, NY.  In 2010, the Boys Team won the Ivy Preparatory School League Championship.  In addition, the squad competed in the New York City Mayor's Cup Scholastic Team Tournament in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013.  This is the largest scholastic tennis tournament in the United States.  

Coach Nerenberg was the Men's Tennis Coach at Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York from 1981 - 2001, and holds the schools record for the most number of wins in Manhattan College history.  Prior to that, he was the Boys Varsity Coach of the prestigious Collegiate School in New York, from 1976 - 1979.   In January of 1993, the United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR) selected him as Coach of the Year.  He also served as the Director of the Horace Mann Summer School Tennis Program from 1984 - 2002.  Regarded as the most experienced and successful coach in the entire tri-state area, the USTA named him as a Summer National Coach from 1993 -  1996. He was recently named to the "Century Club" of the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) for winning more than 500 matches at the Scholastic and Collegiate level.

 

Coach Nerenberg is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry and was a member of the Intercollegiate Tennis Coaches Association of America (ITA), and was named recently to the Dunlop Sports Group Advisory Staff Team.  From 1983 - 2016, Coach Jeff was a member of the Prince Sports Group National Elite Team of Tennis Professionals.  Jeff holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Queens College and a Master of Arts degree in Physical Education from New York University.

Meet the team

Patrick Nortey is now the Director of Tennis for JNTA.  He is a certified Professional with the Professional Tennis Registry, and was a Junior and Senior Team Member of the National Team of Ghana.  In addition to several years playing in the ATP Professional Circuit, he is celebrating his 10th anniversary with JNTA.  Patrick is an inspired teacher who creates an environment on the court that enhances the playing level of all students from beginners to College level.
